Two East Texas Red Cross chapters to merge

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Two Red Cross chapters that serve East Texas are merging into a single large chapter that will serve almost 2 million people across 29 counties.

According to a release, the Northeast Texas and East Texas chapters of Red Cross are set to merge into a new East Texas chapter. According to Red Cross, the new chapter will serve the following Texas counties:

  • Bowie

  • Camp

  • Cass

  • Cherokee

  • Delta

  • Ellis

  • Fannin

  • Franklin

  • Gregg

  • Harrison

  • Henderson

  • Hopkins

  • Hunt

  • Kaufman

  • Lamar

  • Marion

  • Morris

  • Navarro

  • Panola

  • Rains

  • Red River

  • Rusk

  • Smith

  • Titus

  • Upshur

  • Van Zandt

  • Wood

Red Cross said that the new chapter will continue to operate out of the offices in Tyler, Texarkana, Longview and Paris.

“Helping to alleviate human suffering is what our volunteers do and with the new chapter, I think we will be better able to respond to our community needs,” East Texas chapter executive director Karen Holt said. “This consolidation represents a significant step forward for the East Texas Chapter and the residents that live here.”
