New fires break out in San Luis Obispo — this time near Cal Poly

Update 5:10 p.m.:
As of 5:10 p.m., both fires burning hear the Highland Drive entrance of Cal Poly were contained, according to emergency scanner traffic.
One fire burned behind the Crop Science unit on the edge of campus near Highway 1 and Stenner Creek Road, according to Cal Poly spokesperson Matt Lazier.
The other was located between the Cal Poly lemon orchard and Mustang Village, he said.
Fire crews will be on the scene for a few hours mopping up the area.
Highland Drive was closed from Santa Rosa Street to California Boulevard while crews responded to the fire, Lazier said.
As of about 5:10 p.m., Cal Fire was still working to contain the Lizzie Fire near San Luis Obispo High School and the other wildfire in California Valley.

Two more fires broke out in San Luis Obispo on Monday afternoon, this time near Cal Poly.
The newest fires were burning near the Highland Drive entrance to the university.
As of 4:45 p.m., one of the fires had burned about a half acre of vegetation near the creek, a Cal Fire spokesperson said.
According to emergency scanner traffic, a second small fire was also reported in the same area, though the Cal Fire spokesman did not have information on that fire at the time.
The Highland scene is the third major blaze to break out in San Luis Obispo County on Monday afternoon.
One was the Lizzie Fire burning on a hillside hear San Luis Obispo High School. As of 4:45 p.m., the blaze had burned 100 acres of vegetation and was 10% contained, the spokesperson said.
The other wildfire burned near the intersection of Diablo Road and Gaviota Trail in California Valley.
