Two former county jail inmates earn GEDs through Learning Bank program

Two former inmates of the Monroe County Jail recently obtained their GEDs as part of a program offered through the Monroe County Learning Bank Network.

Charity Kelly and Chance Petree both participated in a graduation ceremony held at Monroe County Community College on June 16, according to a congratulatory press release issued by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

"The Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the partnership with the Learning Bank to allow all incarcerated inmates the opportunity to complete their GED as well as work on sharpening their educational skills to prepare for college," the statement reads. "Congratulations Charity and Chance! We are proud of your accomplishment."
