Two former Miami Hurricanes football standouts will be inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Class of 2024, the Hall announced Wednesday — along with the rest of the 10-member class.

The football players: safety Brandon Meriweather (lettered 2003 through 2006) and offensive lineman Eric Winston (2002 through 2005).

Canes basketball player Shane Larkin (2011 through 2013), the 2013 Lute Olson National Player of the Year, Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and ACC tournament Most Valuable Player, also will be inducted into the 2024 class. Larkin led the Canes in 2013 to their first ACC regular-season and conference tournament titles. He was a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, National Association of Basketball Coaches, and ESPN. Larkin was a first-round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks and currently plays professionally in Turkey.

Meriweather was named a 2005 All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and ABC Sports/Cingular. He was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award, given to the nation’s best defensive back. He led the team 115 tackles in 2005, including 13 tackles for loss, seven passes defended and three interceptions. He was a first-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots and spent nine seasons in the NFL.

Winston was named a 2005 All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the American Football Coaches Association, Sports Illustrated, and Rivals.com. He was a second-team AP All-American.

Winston won the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the league’s best blocker, per a vote by the conference coaches. He was also a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award that is given to the nation’s outstanding college football lineman. Winston played 12 seasons in the NFL and served as president of the NFL Players Association from 2014 to ‘20.

The 2024 UM Class includes Kimberli Barrett (women’s track and field), Johan Donar (men’s tennis), Jose “Chemi” Gil (men’s diving), Megan Saake-Knokey (women’s basketball), George Oliver (polo coach), Chris Perez (baseball).

Also being inducted is UM athletics administrator Rick Remmert (1978-1987, 2012-present), who currently serves as Miami Associate Athletic Director of Alumni Programs, directing national championship reunions and alumni weekends. Remmert is the athletic department’s lead liaison with former student-athletes and graduated from UM in 1977. He was hired in 1980 by the late, legendary baseball coach Ron Fraser to lead the program’s marketing and promotions.

The UM Hall of Fame induction banquet will be held in the spring at a date to be announced.
