Two new Fort Worth eateries to open near TCU serving Asian street food & Japanese cuisine

Two new Asian restaurants are gearing up to open within a few blocks of Texas Christian University this fall.

Banh Shop is opening a location at 3051 S. University Dr. later this fall in time for students coming back to campus, restaurant CEO Ken Myres told the Star-Telegram. The location is the former home of Pizza Snob, which closed earlier this year in March.

The Fort Worth location will be the first of a couple restaurants Banh Shop is planning for North Texas, Myres said. Other restaurants are in the works for Dallas and Irving, which will add to the the company’s already established eateries at terminals C and D at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Banh Shop serves Asian-style street food such as banh mi sandwiches, pad thai and spring rolls.

“We’re really excited about this fall,” Myres said.

Another Asian restaurant soon to open near TCU is called Megu.

The restaurant will serve Japanese and French cuisine at the Campus Office Tower building at 3113 S. University Dr.. The space was home to Overflow Coffee Co. before it closed its doors at the end of 2022.

No opening date has been set for Megu, but a restaurant associate told the Star-Telegram they plan to open within the next few months.
