A crash outside the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore killed two Fresno men and sent a third person to the hospital via helicopter late Friday.

About 11:45 p.m., Santana Yanez, 26, of Lemoore was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla east on Jersey Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At the same time, two men in a 2006 Nissan Quest minivan were heading north, leaving Tachi Palace. “For reasons yet to be determined,” the driver of the van pulled into the path of the Corolla, according to a news release from the CHP.

Yanez, the Corolla driver, was unable to stop and crashed into the driver’s side of the van.

Yanez was arrested, accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken by SkyLife to Kaweah Health Medical Center with major injuries.

The two men, the 63-year-old driver and a 52-year-old passenger, both from Fresno, died at the scene. Their names were not released pending notification of their families.

All three were wearing seat belts.
