Take a look at this close call, all caught on an MBTA surveillance camera at the Andrew T station in Southie.

‘Yeah they got there in the nick of time,” said Juan Garcia, who is from Dorchester and takes the T regularly.

In the video, you can see a man fall from the platform and right into the pit onto the tracks below.

A couple of seconds later another man walks up looking around almost in disbelief that someone is laying on the tracks.

He keeps walking up to take a closer look, picking up his pace when he realized his eyes did not deceive him.

Just as he gets to the edge of the platform a second man with a backpack comes running to help.

“That’s incredible that someone would do that for someone they don’t know. Definitely, pretty brave! Glad to see people doing stuff like that these days,” said Jake Connelly from South Boston.

The video then shows the man in the pit hopping back onto his feet. Realizing he’s in danger he reaches to the two men for a helping hand.

Both Good Samaritans struggle to pull the man from the pit.

“Well I mean that’s what you’re supposed to do I mean you’re not going to let the dud just stay down there,” said Garcia.

The Good Samaritans help him get back up onto the platform with just 10 seconds to spare.

“Good job guys,” said Garcia.

“Very impressive. Definitely glad they did that and nothing bad happened,” said Connelly.

But it was close. In the video, you can see the lights of a red-line train approaching.

The heroes rescued the man who was in the path of the oncoming train just as it was pulling into Andrew Station.

T passengers tell Boston 25 they hope they’d be just as brave in a similar situation.

I would like to think so at the moment if I saw something I would be able to jump in and do something like that. Hopefully, I’m not in that situation and nobody falls on but I’d like to think I could.”

MBTA Police tell Boston 25 that the man who fell into the pit declined any medical aid and walked off.

And it remains a mystery who those Good Samaritans are, two men who risked their own lives in what was nothing short of a heroic effort.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
