Two Illinois men killed in Livingston County crash

A two-vehicle crash north of Saunemin Thursday evening has claimed two lives, according to a news release from the Livingston County Coroner's Office.

Robert J. Henzel, 70 and Thomas C. Henzel, 73, both of Oswego, Illinois, died in the crash, according to authorities.

In the release, Coroner Mike Renner said that the crash took place on Illinois Route 47 approximately four miles north of Saunemin. The crash involved two vehicles, one being a semi-tractor trailer. It was reported at 7:39 p.m.

Witnesses told authorities Henzel's vehicle was traveling northbound on Illinois 47 when it crossed the center line and collided head with a semi-tractor trailer. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound ditch.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash with assistance from ISP accident reconstruction units and the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
