Sep. 23—Two drivers were sent to the hospital after a collision Friday afternoon in the 3100 block of North Belt Highway.

The crash occurred next to the Advanced Auto Parts store just after 2 p.m.

Officers with the St. Joseph Police Department said the collision happened when the driver of a Honda pulled out in the northbound lanes to travel south. An SUV traveling north hit the driver's side of the Honda.

Both drivers were female and in their 40s. The driver of the Honda was transported to Mosaic Life Care by Buchanan County EMS, and the driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

According to police, both drivers suffered minor to moderate injuries. Traffic in both directions on the Belt was backed up as police worked the scene. The southbound lanes were diverted to Karnes Road until the accident was cleared.
