Two injured in crash Monday evening on Colo. 119 near Niwot

Dec. 22—Two people were injured Monday evening in a near head-on crash at Colo. 119, near Niwot.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said that about 5:30 p.m., a 2008 Nissan SUV was heading southbound on Colo. 119 when it ran a red light and collided with a 1999 Chevy SUV that was heading eastbound. The front end of one vehicle collided with the front side of the other.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, according to Trooper Lewis. The driver of the Chevy, a 73-year-old woman from Johnstown, sustained serious injuries, while a 22-year-old woman from Longmont, who drove the Nissan, had minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle, and there were no fatalities.
