Two injured in crash near Thompson

Aug. 31—THOMPSON, N.D. — Two people were injured in a crash east of Thompson, North Dakota on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

At around 5:11 a.m., Garland Evans III, 49 of Grand Forks, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala SS from an unknown area heading toward where he lived in Grand Forks, according to a crash report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Evans veered slowly off into the south ditch and struck a culvert and went airborne.

Both Evans and his passenger, Sylvina Rickard, 41 of Cochrane, Ontario, suffered serious injuries. Evans was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Altru Hospital. Rickard was also taken to Altru where she is being treated for her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
