Austin police arrested two juveniles in a series of five armed robberies that took place in a single day last week in East and Southeast Austin.

Each robbery on Thursday occurred in a similar way, police said, with one of the juveniles pointing a gun at the victim and demanding their belongings. In two of the cases, police said, they stole a vehicle.

All five robberies happened within about 3½ hours of each other, with the first taking place at East 11th and Waller Street at 4:55 a.m., when they stole a purse and workbag full of tools, police said.

The second happened six minutes later within a half-mile in the 800 block of Chalmers Avenue in East Austin.

It was about an hour later, at 6 a.m., before the next robbery occurred, police said, this time taking place in Southeast Austin in the 1300 block of Crossing Place. Thirty minutes later, the fourth robbery took place in the same area in the 1200 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

The juveniles then headed back to East Austin for the final robbery at 8:10 a.m., police said, this time taking place in the 1500 block of New York Avenue.

Investigators identified the suspects based on the location of the crimes, their descriptions and the way in which the crimes were committed, police said.

Police determined who the two juveniles were using surveillance, and both were arrested. They are also suspects in several auto thefts, police said. Since both of the suspects are juveniles, police did not release their names.

The investigation remains ongoing.
