Two K-9s join force at Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is getting two furry new members.

Groot, a pointer, and Treadstone, a Labrador retriever, are the office’s newest employees, deputies announced in a news release Tuesday.

The canines will be trained to sniff out drugs and track people, including suspects, missing kids and missing Alzheimer’s patients.

“We are creating the K-9 team to make it safer for Lincoln County citizens in the battle against illegal drugs,” said Sheriff Bill Beam. “Anytime drugs are intercepted can prevent someone overdosing and a family losing a member.”

The dogs were purchased and trained using donations from The Treadstone Group, Inc. and its owner.

“The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office looks forward to swearing in K-9 Officers, Groot and Treadstone, following completion of training with their LCSO handlers,” the news release read.
