Two Kansas City area golfers hit holes-in-one on same day to win cars

Jake Falcon, the owner of a Kansas City-area amateur golf tour, decided this year that he would give away a one-year car lease to any golfer who made a hole-in-one.

The last time a Falcon Wealth Advisors Tour golfer hit a hole-in-one happened eight years ago.

But on Thursday, two golfers hit a hole-in-one on the same hole on the same day at the Falcon Lakes Golf Club in Basehor.

“I guess it’s been far overdue,” Falcon said in a press release.

The 17th hole at Falcon Lakes was the predetermined hole for a chance for the golfers to win a Toyota lease, Falcon said.

The Falcon Lakes event was the seventh competition of 12 in the FWA Tour, which is open to amateur golfers and competes across the Kansas City area.

Pete Robbins, playing in the tour’s super senior division, sank the first hole-in-one while using a set of new clubs on the round.

Brian Schmidt made the second hole-in-one on the day for his first career hole-in-one and the unlikely second hole-in-one in one day. According to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the odds of the average golfer making a hole-in-one are 12,500 to 1.

The odds of an average PGA tour player making a hole-in-one are 3,000 to 1.

Falcon said he and the FWA tour were thrilled for Robbins’ and Schmidt’s unlikely aces. But the owner of the tour also said the hole-in-one hole would be more difficult moving forward.

“The tour players should know that the hole-in-one hole will be quite a bit more challenging the rest of this season,” Falcon said. “They can thank Pete and Brian for that.”
