Two of Kansas City’s favorite gas stations are among top 10 in the U.S., says new list

Two Kansas City favorites ranked among the best pit stops in the country in a new list of America’s 10 best gas stations — Hy-Vee, and QuikTrip.

We all have our own reasons for choosing a gas station when it’s time to fill up, and each region of the country has its favorites to defend. According to USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards, picking the best gas station is about the whole experience — from the snacks to the bathrooms.

Readers had the chance to vote on a list chosen by a panel of experts, and Wisconsin-based gas station Kwik Trip — not to be confused with Kansas City’s beloved QuikTrip — outranked the entire lot.

The famous gas station chain that sells milk sourced from Wisconsin dairy farms has ranked number one in USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Award for the past four years.

Though they share a name, the two businesses have separate owners and often take to social media to poke fun at each other, despite having similar offerings.

Oklahoma-based chain, Quik Trip came in ninth on the list, while Midwestern grocer and gas station, Hy-Vee was named the second-best gas station in the country.

The first QuikTrip opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1958 and expanded to Belton, Missouri, in 1988. QuikTrip has 1,000 stores nationwide, including 134 locations in Missouri and 23 in Kansas City. From their famous roller grill to their made-to-order food options. The store is quintessentially Midwestern.

Hy-Vee has around 240 locations nationwide. There are 22 Hy-Vees in Missouri that double as grocery stores and gas stations and another 11 in Kansas. Only three of those gas stations are in Kansas City.

Here are the other top 10 gas stations, according to USA TODAY:
