Two Kansas teens hospitalized after jet ski crash at Lake of the Ozarks

Two Kansas teens were seriously injured Friday in a jet ski crash at Lake of the Ozarks in which both were ejected from their watercrafts.

A 15-year-old boy from Derby, Kansas, was operating a jet ski about 6:20 p.m. at the 7 mile mark of the Big Niangua when he struck the side of another personal watercraft driven by a 16-year-old from Rose Hill, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol incident report.

Both boys were taken to Lake Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

On Saturday and Sunday, the highway patrol responded to two other incidents at the lake where two people were injured.

A 48-year-old man from Arnold, Missouri, was found just before 5 p.m. Saturday at the 5 mile mark on the Osage Arm “face down in the water due to their inability to stay above water due to intoxication,” a patrol report said. He was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

On Sunday, at 3:40 p.m., a 41-year-old New Hampshire woman driving a personal watercraft in the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks “struck a series of wakes,” and was ejected. She also was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
