Two killed in Friday truck-UTV crash in town of Canajoharie, Montgomery Co. Sheriff says

Oct. 5—TOWN OF CANAJOHARIE — Two people riding a Utility Terrain Vehicle were killed in a Friday afternoon crash with a truck in the town of Canajoharie, Montgomery County Sheriff's officials said in a Tuesday morning release.

Preliminary indications on the cause point to alcohol involvement on the part of the UTV driver, as well as the UTV driver's failure to yield the right of way, officials said.

The driver of the truck is not suspected of wrongdoing, officials said.

Those killed were identified as UTV driver Randall Anderson, 35, of Sprakers, and Kristi Schlobohm, 29, of Sprakers.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Clinton and Beul roads in the town of Canajoharie, officials said.

Deputies arrived to find a Cub Cadet UTV side-by-side and a Ford F350 truck had collided head-on, officials said.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The investigation continues as officials await the results of toxicology and reconstruction reports, officials said.

Deputies were assisted in the investigation by state police patrol, state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and state police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Assisting at the scene were the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department, the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department, the Canajoharie Police Department, GAVAC ambulance, Roosevelts Towing & Recovery and members of the public, officials said.
