Two killed in separate north St. Louis shootings


ST. LOUIS — Two people were killed in different parts of north St. Louis Tuesday night, just hours apart. A suspect is in custody for one of the homicides.

The first incident occurred near North Grand and Barrett in the Fairgrounds neighborhood, where police responded to a shots fired call just before 1 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man shot multiple times in the lower extremities at a small playground across from Fairgrounds Park. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s name and age have not been released, but authorities indicated that he was not a juvenile. Currently, no suspects are in custody for this shooting.

Earlier in the evening, around 9:50 p.m., another shooting was reported inside an apartment on Lexington near Norwood Avenue in the Kingsway East neighborhood. A 31-year-old man was found shot and pronounced dead at the scene. A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident, though police have not disclosed any potential relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating both cases.
