Two killed, two injured in early Friday morning crash in Greene County

Two women died and two others were injured early Friday morning in a head-on collision in Greene County, according to state troopers.

Frances McCreary, 58, of Huntsville and Joetta Lewis, 63, of Newbern were killed around 3 a.m. on U.S. Highway 11 about six miles north of Eutaw.

Troopers said the head-on collision involved a 2016 Hyundai Accent, driven by McCreary, and a 2002 Chevrolet S10. McCreary and Lewis, who was a passenger in McCreary's car, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another occupant of the Hyundai, 45-year-old Joretha Lewis of Newbern was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Troopers identified the driver of the Chevrolet S10 as 40-year-old Jeffrey T. McDonald of Tuscaloosa. He also was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

No further information was released and troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
