Two people were killed and two injured after a head-on collision on Highway 138 just south of Serrano High School in Phelan.

At about 5:43 p.m. on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire responded to the collision on Hwy. 138 between Beekley and Sheep Creek roads.

The vehicles involved were a blue Chevrolet Silverado truck, which sustained major front-end damage and a white sedan, which appeared to be split in two.

Preliminary reports revealed that the Chevrolet was traveling east and the sedan traveling westbound when the collision occurred.

Despite life-saving measures, two people were declared deceased at the scene.

Two people were injured in the collision and transported to hospitals. One was taken by medical helicopter, while the other was taken by ground. Their conditions are unknown.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has not released the identities of the deceased.

The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol - Victorville Office.
