Two Kingston High School students killed, one hurt Monday in crash on Route 28

SHANDAKEN - Two Kingston High School students were killed and a third was injured in a crash Monday morning involving three cars and a tractor trailer.

State police said the crash happened just before 9 a.m. Monday on Route 28 in the town of Shandaken.

According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Volvo tractor trailer driven by Ramon LunaLuna, 54, of the Bronx, was traveling east on Route 28 when he saw a Honda stopped on the roadway, waiting to turn north on to Route 212.

Police said the tractor trailer struck the Honda in the rear, then crossed over the double yellow line into the westbound lane, where it struck a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe head-on, causing the tractor trailer to roll over. A fourth vehicle, a 2018 Audi SQ5 traveling westbound, then struck the tractor trailer.

State police said all three occupants of the Hyundai were juniors at Kingston High School. Two of the students, Dillon Gokey, 16, of Kingston, and Jack Noble, 17, of Port Ewen, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
