Two lion cubs born at Lion Country Safari. They will be shown in the next few weeks.

Lion Country Safari is starting the new year with two new lion cubs.

Atlas and Mara were introduced to the world on Wednesday, but were born on Nov. 8. They are the first cubs to be born at the safari, at 2003 Lion Country Safari Road in Palm Beach County in about 20 years.

The births of the lions comes after the safari was recommended to breed the felines for the Lion Species Survival program, the safari said. Lions are an endangered species.

There will be no encounters with the cubs, as they are being parent-reared. They will be visible in the lion pack in the next couple of weeks, the safari said.

Another baby is born at Zoo Miami. This time the public got to see it.
