Two lists ranking best NFL stadiums kept Arrowhead out of top 5. Here’s what they said

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium consistently ranks among the top stadium experiences in the NFL.

Seating 76,416 fans, the stadium is packed every game day as Kansas City Chiefs fans carry the reputation of having the “loudest stadium in the world.”

Despite this, two national lists ranking the top NFL stadiums in 2023 kept Arrowhead out of their top five.

Sports website The Athletic and USA Today’s For The Win sports section both released their 2023 rankings of the best stadiums in the NFL.

Arrowhead ranked sixth on The Athletic’s list and 12th on USA Today’s.

The Athletic’s 30 NFL reporters ranked their top five best and worst stadiums in the league. Arrowhead did not make the cut for the five best, but the writers said it would be tougher to find a better game-day atmosphere than Arrowhead Stadium.

In their review, they said the tailgating scene is outstanding and the crowd noise during games is among the best in the league.

They also gave credit to the stadium itself, saying it’s aged well in the 51 years it’s been open. The stadium has a Google review of 4.7 stars out of 5.

USA Today’s Andrew Joseph and the For The Win staff ranked stadiums using the criteria of general atmosphere, design, location, amenities, food, character and the stadium itself. They said Arrowhead Stadium was just OK.

“Surrounded by nothing but parking lots, there’s little to do around the stadium besides tailgating,” Joseph said. “Which is awesome before games but leads to hour-plus traffic jams to exit Truman Sports Complex after games.”

Joseph said that you can’t go wrong visiting Arrowhead and that there aren’t many better places to spend a Sunday or other game day in the NFL.

Stadiums that finished ahead of Arrowhead in both lists include U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis; SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California; Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin; AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and Lumen Field in Seattle.
