2 Livermore Valley Food And Wine Programs To Be Held Virtually

LIVERMORE, CA – Two popular food and wine events that are hosted annually as fundraisers to benefit drive-thru meal distribution for children in need in the Livermore Valley will be hosted virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association and Winegrowers Foundation have adjusted the traditional formats of the Livermore Valley wine auction and the Taste Our Terroir events to online-only that will be held July 23-26.

During that weekend, wineries from across the region will collaborate for two virtual seminars as well as an in-person wine-tasting event featuring electric bikes. The virtual wine auction will be held to benefit the school lunch program along with other events throughout the summer. Organizers said that the event is being moved up from September to allow more donations to reach more children who are in need of the meals.

The wine pairing competition that is traditionally part of the Taste Our Terroir program has been canceled and is scheduled to resume next year, organizers said. In its place, the two organizations have announced the following events to benefit the meal distribution program.

Organizers announced that anyone who has already purchased tickets to a Taste Our Terroir event has a variety of options for tickets to be transferred or refunded and can visit LVwine.org for information and directions. Due to COVID-19 and expected shipping delays, Livermore Valley Wine Country is only able to accommodate curbside pickup for Tapas & Tempranillo and Celebrate Chardonnay. Event packages will not be shipped.

This program started when the shelter-in-place began and will continue through the summer and fall. Funds raised by the auction will help the schools continue and expand this under-funded program. The Livermore Valley Wine Auction is presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union with Jeff and Doris Hank.
