Two men arrested, charged after months-long investigation into illegal drug activity

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Two men have been arrested after a months-long investigation into illegal drug activity.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, the Special Response Team (SRT) and Narcotics Division executed search warrants at several locations in Burke County on February 14th, which culminated in the execution of multiple search warrants and the arrests of Antonio Mims and Kenneth Rhodes.

According to the investigators, a significant amount of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia were seized during the operation, which includes eight firearms, $2,834 in U.S. currency, 118.4 grams of marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, Heroin, Lorazepam pills, Promethazine with Codeine (Schedule V narcotic), and Hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

According to authorities, Mims is facing the following charges: Possession of Oxycodone with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to distribute, Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of Heroin with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule V narcotics with intent to distribute, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony while Rhodes is facing these following charges: Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of Heroin with intent to distribute, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

“This operation sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drug activity in Burke County,” says Sheriff Alfonzo Williams. “We are committed to working diligently to identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks, and we appreciate the support of our community in this effort.”
