Two 20-year-old men were arrested for allegedly vandalizing the new Cole Park Pier early Thursday morning.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a complaint by a fisherman who observed people spray-painting benches, trashcans and light poles.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with other witnesses to gather enough probable cause to make the arrests.

The two suspects were arrested for the alleged offenses of graffiti and possession of criminal instruments.

City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new pier Dec. 17.
