Two men injured, one critically, in Sunday afternoon shooting on Tallmadge Avenue

Akron Police Department detectives are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that left two men injured, one critically.

Around 1:12 p.m., multiple officers responded to a shooting in the 500 block of East TallmadgeAvenue. When they arrived, they found two men in a bullet-riddled car, both with gunshot wounds.

The driver, a 20-year-old male, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and wastransported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center. The passenger, also 20, was shot in the upper body and transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital in critical condition.

According to the driver, they were at the gas station on the corner of East Glenwood Avenue andGorge Boulevard when at least two males approached, started shooting at them, then ran away.

Officers canvassed the area and found multiple shell casings in the 700 block of Gorge Boulevard.

Detectives are working to identify the suspects.

Two other gun-related robbery incidents also were reported this weekend.

On Saturday, a 36-year-old Chittenden Street man was arrested and charged on multiple offenses connected to a robbery at a West South Street store.

At around 2:15 p.m., officers responded to the Corner Store at West South Street. When police arrived, they were told that a suspect entered the store, pulled a handgun, and stole merchandise at gunpoint. During the robbery, the suspect struck the employee in the face and made threats before fleeing the scene.

Other information led officers to a residence to Chittenden Street, where they observed the suspect's vehicle in the driveway. Inside the car, officers observed a handgun and the stolen merchandise, Slims Jims, in plain view.

Officers surrounded the house and ordered the occupants out. The 36-year-old was among thesubjects who exited the home and he was taken into custody. During a residence search, at least two guns, one rifle, and around 8 pounds of suspected methamphetamines, marijuana, and druginstruments were found.

The man was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated menacing, possession of drugs, andweapons under disability. He was booked into the Summit County Jail following his arrest.

In addition, a 13-year-old male reported he was robbed Sunday afternoon while walking down Minordy Place.

According to the victim, just before 3:30 p.m., he saw a red car approaching, and four unknown malesgot out with rifles and guns. The suspects demanded and took the victim’s cash card before fleeing.

There were no injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.

Two men shot Monday during fight in Akron bar

During an altercation early Monday, two men, 28 and 30 years old, were shot by an unknownsuspect.

According to information gathered at the scene, there was a fight inside the bar, and the subjectsinvolved were kicked out. Once outside, the altercation escalated and resulted in the shooting. After the shooting, the victims ran back inside the Wild Lotus Lounge. At around 2:20 a.m., officers arrived and found two men inside with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital for medical treatment.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the shooting remains under investigation.
