Two men rescued 31 miles off of Homosassa Springs, Coast Guard said

The United States Coast Guard rescued two men 31 miles off of Homosassa Springs on Sunday, the Coast Guard said in a media release.

The Coast Guard received a registered 406MHz Personal Locator Beacon, an emergency alert, Saturday night. The MG-60 Jayhawk air crew, arrived at the beacon location and found the 42-foot boat without power and unable to sail in the weather conditions.

At the time, winds were at 24 mph and there was a small craft advisory.

The two men on board the 42-foot vessel were taken to Air Station Clearwater in good health.

The owner of the boat is coordinating the salvage of the adrift boat.
