ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County Police Department this week announced that a Bethesda woman and a resident of a Laytonsville homeless shelter have been reported to be missing. They're asking the public for tips in locating both women.

Bernadette Arrington, 49, was last known to be a resident of the Laytonsville Safe Haven Shelter at 5834 Riggs Road in the Laytonsville area, the police said.

She left the shelter on Aug. 10 and said she would return in a couple of days. Shelter staff members spoke to her in late August in a phone call, and Arrington said that she would return to the shelter.

Personnel at the shelter have not been able to contact her since that time and reported her as missing. The shelter personnel and the police are concerned about Arrington’s physical and emotional welfare.

Arrington is described as an African American woman, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.
