Two motorcyclists among six dead in recent traffic accidents

Two motorcyclists died in separate accidents Sunday on South Jersey highways.

The men were among at least six victims of fatal crashes in recent days, including two people struck after exiting their vehicles on the New Jersey Turnpike and a man and woman whose car hit a steamroller in Voorhees.

In the first of Sunday’s accidents, 26-year-old Aaron Dilks of Shiloh was fatally injured in a 9:50 a.m. crash on Salem-Quinton Road in Quinton, according to New Jersey State Police.

In the other crash, 60-year Steven L. DeStefano of Egg Harbor lost control of his motorcycle when an oncoming vehicle turned left on County Route 542 in Washington Township, Burlington County.

That accident occurred around 1:25 p.m. in the Pinelands community.

State Police have also reported the deaths of two motorists — from Salem and Camden counties — who were struck by vehicles on the turnpike.

Jeanne M. Wurth, 53, of Pittsgrove was killed shortly after 11 p.m. on April 19 when a tractor trailer swerved onto the left shoulder to avoid her disabled vehicle on the northbound highway in Carneys Point.

Charles H. Niclas 3rd of Somerdale died when he was struck by a vehicle on the northbound turnpike in East Windsor around 12:25 p.m. on April 16.

Niclas, 43, was a sales representative for Gateway Kia in Pennsylvania, his obituary said.

Both drivers remained at the scenes of the turnpike accidents.

In Voorhees, police said, John “Jack” Joyce, 65, of West Berlin and a passenger, 62-year-old Sharon Hee of Cherry Hill, died when Joyce's vehicle struck a steamroller on the 300 block of Route 73.

The steamroller's operator was hospitalized in stable condition after the accident at 9 p.m. on April 15.

Joyce, formerly of Cherry Hill, was the father of three and grandfather of five.

He was a mechanical contracting consultant and a member for more than 40 years of the Plumber and Pipefitters Local Union 322, according to an obituary.

Hee was the mother of three and the grandmother of three, according to her obituary.
