Two Northern Kentucky basketball programs fill coaching openings, creating two more

Two head basketball coaching positions in Northern Kentucky have been filled today, which create two new openings.

Scott High School girls basketball coach Steve Brown has moved to 37th District rival Bishop Brossart to take over its vacant girls basketball position.

At Ludlow, Aaron Stamm has moved from leading the girls basketball program there to the boys basketball program.

Brown started his coaching career in the early 1980s at Beechwood and has had stops at Campbell County, Boone County, St. Henry, and Scott High School.

He has been the coach at Scott for the past three seasons where his team made it to the 10th Region semifinals in 2021. He was named the 2021 KABC Coach of the Year for the 10th Region.

Prior to that was the head coach at St. Henry for two seasons where his teams made two All “A” Classic regional final appearances and advanced to the postseason Ninth Region Tournament.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Brown to be the new leader of our girls basketball program,” Bishop Brossart Athletic Director Ron Verst said. “With Coach Brown’s experience we know he will be able to continue the winning tradition here at Bishop Brossart.”

Stamm was head coach with the Conner girls program the previous nine seasons, going 181-102.

The Ludlow boys program was 14-16 this past season.
