Two Pensacola eateries temporarily close in wake of December restaurant inspections
As Christmas rolled around the corner in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, 85 restaurants were met with the best gift of all from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for their December restaurant inspections: a perfect score.
However, not everyone received what they were hoping for, as two Pensacola restaurants had to temporality shut their doors, with an additional four restaurants receiving administrative complaints.
Out of all those reviewed, 164 passed their inspections, compared to the 29 didn’t.

Here are the DBPR inspection results for the month of December:
Two restaurants temporarily shut down
La Cabana Mexican Kitchen
Following a Dec. 13 inspection from the DBPR, La Cabana received eight violations, three of which were deemed a high priority. The report noted that raw sewage was found on the grounds of the outdoor food trailer, along with flying insects in a food prep area. Food was also found stored at improper temperatures. As a result, the restaurant was temporarily closed.
La Cabana was still found to be in violation in a follow-up inspection later that day, for lacking proof of a food manager certification and employee training. The restaurant was then shut down a second time on Dec. 14 with six violations still present from the initial inspection, including sewage on the ground, food being stored at improper temperatures and food being stored on the floor.
The restaurant was given a time extension on Dec. 15 with five violations still present. A follow-up inspection is required.
Restaurant NOLA
Following a Dec. 7 inspection from the DBPR, Restaurant NOLA received eight violations, six of which were deemed a high priority. The report noted that about a dozen rodent droppings were found on an electrical shelf in the electrical panel room. It also noted that there was one dead insect in the mop sink. Other offenses included foods being stored at an incorrect temperature, small, flying insects in the kitchen. As a result, the restaurant was temporarily closed. The restaurant complied with a follow-up inspection the next day.
Four other restaurants receive administrative complaints
Jordan Valley
Following a Dec. 28 inspection from the DBPR, Jordan Valley received an administrative complaint for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. A follow-up inspection is still required.
East King Corner Café
Following a Dec. 28 inspection from the DBPR, East King Corner Café received an administrative complaint for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. A follow-up inspection is still required.
Rolling Embers Brick Oven Pizza
Following a Dec. 20 inspection from the DBPR, Rolling Embers received an administrative complaint for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. A follow-up inspection is still required.
Back Porch Bar and Grill
Following a Dec. 19 inspection from the DBPR, Back Porch received an administrative complaint for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. A follow-up inspection is still required.
