Two people killed in separate traffic accidents in Grapevine over the weekend

Two traffic accidents in northeast Tarrant County over the weekend led to the deaths of a Grapevine man and a Dallas woman, according to a Grapevine police press release on Monday.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, dispatchers received a call from a someone who had discovered the aftermath of a crash in the 2700 block of Dove Road.

The driver of an SUV, who the medical examiner later identified as 59-year-old Stevie Mowery of Grapevine, was lying in the road, while the SUV was stopped nearby with front-end damage. Grapevine Fire personnel treated Mowery, and rushed him to the hospital for treatment.

Several hours later, Mowery died from his injuries. Police believe no other vehicles were involved.

Tire marks show that the SUV left the road, went over a curb and hit a tree. Investigators are still looking into why the car left the roadway.

Grapevine police are also investigating a deadly crash on Sunday that claimed the life of a 44-year-old Dallas woman.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, the woman was driving a gray Jeep east on State Highway 121 when the car suddenly swerved right to take the ramp onto eastbound Interstate 635.

The Jeep crashed into an arrow truck parked at the split, then hit the barrier wall of the I-635 ramp. The woman was taken to the hospital and died a short time later, according to the release.

The medical examiner has not yet identified the woman.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident. Witnesses believe speed may have been a factor, according to the release.
