Two people found dead in west Lafayette home

Two people were found dead in a Lafayette home when the Lafayette Police Department was called to conduct a welfare check on the residents.

Officers were called at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday to the home in the 200 block of Woodrow Street, which is in west Lafayette off Cameron Street.

Officers found a 47-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman dead inside, department spokesperson Sgt. Robin Green said in a news release. Officers were unable to determine how the two people died and the cause of death is pending an investigation by the medical examiner.

A preliminary report from the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office indicated homicide has been ruled out as a manner of death.

No further details were provided.

This is a developing story.
