Two people killed in 15th Street crash, Tuscaloosa police say

Two people died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on 15th Street, according to Tuscaloosa police.

Witnesses told police officers that the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Cloverdale Road when a Nissan Versa driving eastbound on 15th Street made a U-turn in front of a Dodge Charger that was traveling westbound.

The driver of the Nissan Versa, a 67-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 51-year-old man, were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

Police said the occupants of the Nissan Versa were Bessie Lee Cameron and her son Troy Lee Cameron. both from the Ralph community in southwest Tuscaloosa County.

The driver of Dodge Charger was not injured, according to police.

The westbound lanes of 15th Street were closed after the crash, but reopened to traffic just before 2 p.m.

TPD’s accident reconstruction unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
