Two people killed in separate collisions on Interstate 15 between Barstow and Baker

California Highway Patrol officers arrested four people suspected of carjacking a motorist whose vehicle was disabled along Interstate 15 near Mountain Pass.

Two people were killed during separate collisions on Sunday on northbound Interstate 15 between Barstow and Baker.

One driver suffered fatal injuries during a collision, which occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on I-15 near Lenwood Road in Barstow.

California Highway Patrol said that a driver witnessed the driver of a white SUV try to avoid rear-ending a white and black Jeep with no rear view lights. The SUV lost a tire, which caused the driver to lose control and drive into a ditch, then overturning in the center divider and landing on the right shoulder.

A black Honda Civic was also damaged when it struck the SUV tire on the roadway.

The SUV driver has not been identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Department’s Coroner Division.
