Two popular campgrounds on the Oregon Coast will temporarily close this fall and winter for construction projects, according to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

Campgrounds at Beverly Beach State Park, 7 miles north of Newport, will close from Sept. 5 to late May 2024 for upgrades to the park and campground power and water lines, department officials said. All facilities will be closed.

Campgrounds at Bullards Beach State Park, 2 miles north of Bandon, will close from Oct. 15 to mid-March 2024 for a main sewer line upgrade, department officials said. The campgrounds will be closed, but the day-use area, boat ramp, lighthouse and horse camp will remain open.

The two campgrounds are among some of the most popular in the state. In 2022, Beverly Beach had 170,673 campers, making it the fifth most popular state park campground, according to state park data. Bullards Beach had a total of 125,834 campers.

Department officials said the closures will allow crews to improve the parks for upcoming seasons.

“Thank you for your patience as we make improvements to the campground that will enhance the park experience for all of our visitors,” said Nick Schoeppner, park manager for Bullards Beach.
