Two prep baseball state tournaments to be played in Pueblo

Jun. 10—Pueblo has become a hot spot for state high school championships.

The road to Pueblo has become an ongoing theme during this high school athletic season.

Two prep baseball tournaments will come to Pueblo this season, adding to the Steel City resume of the fall and spring football championships, the state wrestling championships and one of the tennis championships.

In addition, the Class 3A state girls golf championship will be played at Elmwood Golf Course on June 21 and 22.

The Class 4A and 2A state high school baseball tournaments will be played in Pueblo on June 18-19 and June 25-26 at the Runyon Sports Complex and Rawlings Field on the Colorado State University Pueblo campus.

District and regional tournaments will begin Monday, culminating with state tournaments.

The Class 5A state tournament finals will be held at Cherry Creek and Eaglecrest High School for games 1-11 and then games 12-15 will be played on Keli MacGregor Field at Coca-Cola All-Star Park in Lakewood.

The Class 3A state tournament finals will be held at Frederick High School and the Class 1A state tournament finals will be held at University High School in Greeley.
