Two Rivers' Crafty Cravings & Café serves lunch with a side of artistic creations | Savor Manitowoc

TWO RIVERS - In the time that it's been here, Crafty Cravings & Café in Two Rivers has proven itself a haven for the hungry and the creative alike.

While specialty drinks and sandwiches are certainly on the menu — not to mention more than a few desserts — patrons will also find original photographs from local artists, home decor made from lake and river rocks, decorative trees made from wire and gemstones, and many more wonderful creations made by local artists.

Between the art, the cappuccinos and the old-fashioned candy, tourists and citizens alike will find delight in this shop featured on one of Two Rivers' main streets.

This place is so cute and a destination I intend to bring lady friends from out of town to check out when they are in the area. It has great food, of course, but also a wonderful shop in the back filled with crafts and art made by local folks, as well as Two Rivers-related items. A perfect place to browse and pick up some goodies you won’t find in other stores.

They also have a big selection of old-time candy, which gives you a smile as you walk down memory lane.

The breakfast and lunch menu has a great selection for a smaller place. I ordered the tuna melt sandwich ($7.25), which came on delicious lightly toasted sourdough bread, served with a dill pickle and a small bag of Cheetos. It was just the right size for a nice lunch, although I also grabbed a homemade macadamia nut cookie to munch on later.

Next time I think I would try the chicken Caesar wrap ($6.25), always a favorite of mine.

As you walk into the Crafty Cravings & Café, you immediately are surrounded by wonderful smells and delightful sights. Different crafts and artwork from local creators are displayed throughout the café, and there are shelves on shelves of nostalgic, old-fashioned candy. The workers there greet you right away, and before you know it, you're sitting down to warm sandwiches with your co-worker.

I ordered the turkey B.L.A.T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato) ($7.25). The sandwich came on toasted sourdough — my favorite — and covered in a spicy chipotle sauce. It was the perfect pick-me-up to keep me going on a busy day.

I also ordered a strawberry banana smoothie, which was so delicious I forgot to take a picture of it before slurping up most of the whipped cream!

Next time, I'd like to try the wet burrito, which is served covered in enchilada sauce and the extras are piled on top instead of wrapped inside the tortilla.
