Two-year roundabout construction in Doylestown starts Oct. 9

A two-year project installing roundabouts at two major Doylestown Township intersections begins Oct. 9, PennDOT has announced.

Single-lane closures will be in place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. where Easton Road intersects with New Britain/Sauerman roads, near Triangle Park, through the project's expected completion date on April 27, 2026.

The $3.9 million, federally-funded PennDOT project is aimed at reducing crashes at the intersections currently controlled by stop signs.

Planning for the project began in 2018 as part of a regional traffic safety program. A PennDOT study found that 17 crashes occurred between 2012 and 2015, but another eight crashes were reported between 2018 and June 2022 by the Doylestown Township Police.

The project will also make crossing compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, install new lighting and a "full-depth pavement reconstruction," according to the PennDOT news release.

While that project won't begin until the second week of October, drivers across the county will have a couple of new delays this week and several other ongoing projects that could slow travel this week.
