Two Sanilac County women hospitalized following crash

Two Sanilac County women have been hospitalized following a traffic crash Monday morning.

Michigan State Police troopers responded to the intersection of Peck and Todd Road in Buel Township to a two-vehicle crash about 9:30 a.m. Trooper Steven Tuohey said the vehicles involved were a white Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 24-year-old Peck woman and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 23-year-old Croswell woman.

Michigan State Police, Sanilac County Sheriffs, Croswell EMS and Croswell Fire Department responded to the crash.

Investigators believe the Peck woman may have ran the stop sign at the intersection, however the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Tuohey said alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The 24-year-old was traveling with an approximately 3-months-old child and the 23-year-old was traveling with a an approximately 1-year-old child. Both children were treated for minor injuries.

The 24-year-old was taken to Port Huron McLaren Hospital in critical condition. She was then transferred to McLaren Macomb.

The 23-year-old was ejected from her car during the crash. She was initially taken to Sandusky McKenzie Hospital, but later airlifted to Hurley Hospital in Flint while in critical condition.
