Two sports events kick off spring break weekend
Here is a look at what else is going on this weekend in Abilene.
Grunts, grunts and more grunts
The Region I Division 1 and 2 Texas High School Powerlifting Association meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Wylie High School.
The top athletes at this meet qualify for the state meet this spring. That will be back in Abilene, at the Taylor County Coliseum.
Swings, swings and more swings
The Abilene ISD 2023 Invitational Baseball Tournament is being played Friday and Saturday at the Abilene and Cooper high school diamonds.
Both schools and Wylie High School are entered in the tournament.
Author Eikenhorst at library Friday
Author Jen Eikenhorst will the guest at an author talk from noon-1 p.m. Friday at the downtown Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St.
She is the author of "Left Turn: Life Unimagined," a book that came out a year ago. She is the host of Accidental Hope, a podcast. Go to www.accidentalhope.com for information.
The event is free and open to the public.
