Two St. Louis restaurants make Yelp’s 100 most romantic spots for Valentine’s Day
Two St. Louis restaurants — one known for its cozy feel and the other for dynamite cheese curds — have been named by Yelp as some of the most romantic destinations for Valentine’s Day in the country.
As part of its curated collection of the top 100 romantic restaurants nationwide, released Jan. 31, the customer review website featured St. Louis’ Polite Society and Olive + Oak.
While the two restaurants are likely to be the most convenient options for Belleville residents looking for Valentine’s Day dinner options, three spots in Chicago also made the list. That includes the Chicago steakhouse, Penumbra, which took the No. 1 spot.
Polite Society and Olive + Oak ranked at No. 26 and 27, respectively. Here’s a look at what makes each restaurant special and how you can make reservations.
No. 26 - Polite Society
With more than 800 five-star reviews on Yelp, Polite Society is often described as a top-notch brunch spot, with options like the chorizo avocado benedict or the osso buco hash.

That said, Polite Society is open for dinner, too. Located at 1923 Park Ave., it’s open for dinner seven nights a week between 5 and 9 p.m. Patrons can choose from entrees such as the bistro steak, pan-roasted salmon, stuffed acorn squash or seared scallops.
Polite Society also offers an inviting, comfortable atmosphere for intimate evenings. Reservations can be made through Yelp.
Hours are as follows:
Monday to Friday: 5 to 9 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.
No. 27 - Olive + Oak
Olive + Oak describes itself as an approachable, neighborhood restaurant and bar.
With more than 700 five-star Yelp reviews, patrons seem to agree, using words like “open” and “airy” to describe the restaurant’s atmosphere.

Reviewers also seem to love the food, including the burgers, rotating cocktail offerings and “to die for” cheese curds. Olive + Oak makes changes to its menu daily, but patrons can typically pick from entrees such as the beef tenderloin with smoked cheddar grits, the red snapper and the Moroccan chickpea stew.
