Two State Police cruisers hit during rollover crash in Avon

Two Massachusetts State Police cruisers were hit during a rollover crash in Avon Saturday morning.

A pair of MSP troopers were in the middle of a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 when A 2014 Dodge Journey SUV struck another vehicle and began to rollover in the direction of the two officers.

Both troopers were able to avoid the out-of-control vehicle.

An MSP spokesperson says the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed in the rate and struck a 2018 Jeep Wrangler as the latter was attempting to slow down and move over.

The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old Middlebrough man was evaluated by Brewster medical personnel. He refused medical attention. The female Jeep driver was not injured.

The Middleborough driver was cited for speeding, following too close, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle, a marked lanes violation and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

One of the two police cruisers sustained major damage to the driver’s side while the other had moderate rear-end damage. The Dodge and two cruisers had to be towed from the scene.
