With two state representatives vacating their seats, here’s who is on the ballot this fall in Sheboygan County.
Update: State Assembly District 27 candidate Patrick Johnson, R-Kohler, and U.S. Congressional District 6 candidate Irish Mike Mangan, R-Sheboygan, were both denied approval to appear on the ballot.
SHEBOYGAN - This fall, Sheboygan County voters will elect the county sheriff and clerk of circuit court.
Wisconsin voters will elect the entire State Assembly, half of the State Senate, the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer and secretary of state.
On a national level, all seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and half of the seats in the U.S. Senate are also up for election.
For Sheboygan County residents, Republican candidates dominate the ballot, with only Republican candidates running for State Senate District 9, one of the three Assembly Districts that cover parts of Sheboygan County and U.S. Congressional District 6.
Candidates filed nomination papers last week to appear on the ballot. Primary elections Aug. 9 will narrow the field for some positions ahead of the Nov. 8 election.
Both positions up for election in Sheboygan County are contested. Here are the candidates.
Sheriff (four-year term): Republican incumbent Cory Roeseler and Independent challenger Jarrod Fenner
Clerk of Circuit Court (four-year term): Independent incumbent Melody Lorge and Republican challenger Christine Koenig

State Assembly (two-year terms)
District 26: Incumbent Terry Katsma, R-Oostburg, and challenger Lisa Salgado, D-Sheboygan
District 27: Amy Binsfeld, R-Sheboygan and Chet Gerlach, I-Elkhart Lake. Incumbent Rep. Tyler Vorpagel, R-Plymouth, is not seeking re-election.
District 59: Ty Bodden, R-Hilbert, and Vinny Egle, R-Kewaskum. Incumbent Timothy Ramthun, R-Campbellsport, is running for governor and is not seeking re-election.
State Senate District 9 (four-year term): Incumbent Devin LeMahieu, R-Oostburg, and challengers Jeanette Deschene, R-Manitowoc, and Ruth Villareal, R-Sheboygan
Governor (four-year term): Incumbent Tony Evers will face the winner of the Aug. 9 Republican primary in the general election. Meet the Republican candidates here.
Other positions up for election statewide are lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer and secretary of state.

U.S. Congressional District 6 (two-year term): Incumbent Glenn Grothman, R-Glenbeulah and challenger Douglas Mullenix, R-Menasha

How to register to vote
People can register to vote online at myvote.wi.gov, in person at their municipal clerk's office or at the polling place the day of the election.
People must provide proof of residence with a utility, bank statement, driver's license or other appropriate document to register.
Registered voters can request that an absentee ballot be mailed to them if they wish. More information is available at www.myvote.wi.gov.
