Three students and driver injured in Lakota school bus crash
A motorist suffered life-threatening injuries after his car was involved in a crash with a Lakota Local Schools bus Monday afternoon, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.
According to a news release, a Nissan Altima was involved in a crash with the bus in the 5300 block of Lesourdsville West Chester Road in Liberty Township.
The driver of the Altima became trapped and was transported with life-threatening injuries to UC West Chester Hospital and then to the main campus.
The bus driver was not injured. Three students reported injuries. Two were treated on scene and one was taken to Cincinnati Children's Liberty campus.
The release does not state further details regarding the nature of the crash.
VanGorden Elementary posted this information for parents on its website: at 3:50 p.m.:
"SAFETY UPDATE: Emergency crews and school and district administrators are responding to a bus accident at the corner of Lesourdsville-West Chester and Hancock roads. The accident involved bus No. 122 departing from VanGorden Elementary and one other vehicle.
"As this has just happened, the specific details of the situation are not yet known. Out of an abundance of caution, we understand that one student is being cared for by medical personnel. We will be contacting that family as soon as possible to discuss details. Auto and pedestrian traffic flow may be affected in the area.
"We are in the process of transporting students back to VanGorden. Please plan to pick up your child at VanGorden. Please do not report to the scene of the accident.
Our number one priority is the safety of all our students and staff. Please stay clear of this area for the safety of all. We will continue to communicate updates as we know more. Thank you for your patience."
