Two teenagers killed in car crash in Nottinghamshire

Two teenage boys have been killed and others injured in a car crash in Nottinghamshire.

A 17-year-old and 19-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday night.

Two other people were taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, while another suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash is believed to have involved two cars, with police called at around 10.45pm.

It took place on a main road in the village of Gonalston.

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of everyone involved,” Louise Melbourne from Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said.

“Our specialist trained officers are working to offer families support at this incredibly sad time.”

The case investigator said inquiries were ongoing. She appealed to any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may be helpful to contact police “as soon as possible”.

Nottinghamshire Police said the incident happened between the A612 Southwell Road junctions with Gonalston Road and Beck Street.

Damien West from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those who have died in this tragic incident, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected.”
