Two teens arrested for DC carjacking spree, police say
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police arrested two teenagers who went on a carjacking spree throughout the District Monday – their third accomplice was arrested in a different jurisdiction.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that the first incident happened at about 6:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Hamilton St. NE There, a woman was getting out of her car when the three suspects surrounded her and demanded her keys. She fled before they could take her car.
At 9 p.m., another woman was loading groceries into her car in the 3800 block of Georgia Ave., NW when three suspects again surrounded her and demanded her keys. She complied and they fled in her car.

Then, at about 9:40 p.m., a third woman was getting into her car in the 1200 block of Otis St., NE when the suspects blocked her car with the car they stole less than an hour before. They assaulted her and stole her car, MPD said.
On Monday, officers found the second victim’s vehicle and arrested two of the three suspects. The third suspect fled into Maryland where he was apprehended by police officers there.
Two 17-year-old boys from Northeast D.C. were arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking.
The third suspect was arrested by the Mount Rainer Police Department.
