Two teens die in Marshall County crash

Two Marshall County teenagers died late Thursday in a single-vehicle crash north of Guntersville, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division.

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent identified the two as Michael Finley, 18, and Torrie Smith, 18, both of Grant.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Merrill Mountain Road, about 10 miles north of Guntersville. According to troopers, the 2013 Nissan Rogue left the road and hit a tree. Neither of the teens was using a seat belt, troopers said.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash. Nugent said the Marshall County Coroner's Office Chaplain Service, Marshall Medical Centers EMS, and Hebron Volunteer Fire Department also assisted in the response.
