Two-time Stanley Cup Champion Brad Richards Lists Connecticut Home for $9 Million

Hockey fans now have a chance to own the Greenwich, Connecticut, home of two-time Stanley Cup champion Brad Richards. The athlete, who won with both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks, recently listed his idyllic Georgian Colonial for $8.995 million.

Richards says the great room—which features a bar area, pictured here—is his favorite space in the house because it offers a view of the Long Island Sound.

Originally built in 1922, the 7,551-square-foot dwelling is situated on just-over-one-waterfront acre. The home opens onto an elegant front foyer with pristine white walls, dark hardwood floors, and newly renovated interior spaces, including a dining room with a modern, globular light fixture and a number of floor-to-ceiling French doors. The living room similarly features French doors, plus a stately fireplace. The gourmet kitchen leads directly to an adjoining breakfast room that in turn leads to an outdoor living space with bluestone terraces, an outdoor kitchen, a stone fireplace, and even a heated pool and spa.

In total, the home has six bedrooms and six full and two half bathrooms. The master suite has its own fireplace, a private balcony, and two cavernous spalike marble bathrooms, each with its own dressing room. Other rooms of note include a spacious wine cellar, a child’s play space, and a bar/great room that looks out over the Long Island Sound. Out back, there is a separate guesthouse with its own fireplace, kitchen, and bathroom, as well as a pool and an outdoor tree house. “I love the Old World charm and character, combined with modern and updated amenities,” Richards said of the home in a release. “It’s beautiful to wake up every day with the sun reflecting on the water.”
